We know from our first ever blog with Julie just how full-time and full-on running JDStudio is! If you are a regular studio-attendee then you will know that the studio has just had a weeks closure... So just how does our studio owner spend the week when the studio is shut? We asked Julie to enlighten us on what she got up to in the recent break from her studio duties!

"Dancing is for sharing not comparing" started as a vision... I wanted to host loads of dance teachers together under one roof to bring all their different styles to the local children! I set a status and asked all my choreographer friends if they would be interested in helping me get this off the ground, see if it is successful and then potentially run an annual event. The response I got was overwhelming from both the choreographers and the parents! This vision was a definite! I wanted 6 teachers to teach 6 different styles over a whopping 6 hours and that’s what I looked at organising. We had 4 teachers travel from London and 2 local teachers join us for the day. We managed an enormous workshop covering: Vogueing House Lyrical hip hop Krumping Commercial hip hop Afrobeats After each 2 hour session I asked the children for feedback Hayley teaching Vogueing – “the workshop was sassy and posey, it was amazing” "Hayley is funny and kind, she made sure everyone got involved and looks pretty and smelled lovely” Jordan teaching House – “it was hard and fast very jumpy and energetic” "Jordan is funny and it went over it if we didn’t get it, he has good timing and rhythm” Harry teaching Lyrical hip hop – “the workshop was amazing fantastic song choice and very energetic” "Harry is kind and expressive and fun" Hannah teaching Krumping – workshop was “sick and inspirational” “Hannah is an amazing dancer and kind” Olu teaching afrobeats –“the workshop was so different brilliant but different" "Olu is so nice and explained all the moves it was very energetic" Bismark teaching Commercial hip hop “the workshop was amazing, some bits were hard but we kept doing them" "Bismark is so funny and happy, we learned loads" I spent hours organising this workshop and every hour was worth it, It all came together to be a brilliant amazing day and what an opportunity for those children, I would most definitely organise another workshop – maybe over 2 days next time? Watch this space... I feel another vision on the horizon ☺
